There are some things you have to know first before choosing your travel buddy for long walks while on the road. Make sure you ask these questions to yourself and also do the needed research to avoid the mistake I did – buying a Birkenstock in the wrong size.

Budget

Personally this would be the main factor, I believe that not all expensive products are long-lasting and durable while buying cheaper versions that break after just a month into the trip will make you very annoyed.

Based on my research, the decent money to spend for walking sandals for travelling that is durable, well-design, and with great reviews is around $45-$70 a pair.

Sizes

So here’s the thing, if you are one of the smart people out there who always prefer going to a store to buy the sandals, keep doing that. Because buying them online is honestly a hit and miss.

However, I’m in Asia, not all the brands and products are available here, the others are but often it’s pricier.

Throughout my research and experimentation on buying the best walking sandals for travel I’ve learnt a way to find the right size for you when choosing the sandals.

If you are buying from Amazon or other same site that carries different brands, don’t trust the sizing there. For example, you decided to get a Skechers walking sandals. After looking that your normal shoe size is available on the store, look up at Skechers’ website for sizing, often, they show the US, EU, UK, JP sizes and even the number in inches or cm.

Look at the cm or inches and measure your feet before you decide which size to get from the online store. You will find out that not all 37EU or 4UK are the same size at all.

Durability

Knowing if the walking sandals for travel is durable enough is the hardest part because you won’t be able to find out until you’re many kilometres on, have walked plenty of hours, and had it get through different situations (got it wet, dusty, muddy, and everything in between).

Material

The material definitely helps with the durability of the walking sandals, however, it is also make the product’s price climb up. Some materials are also can’t stand water or doesn’t have good grip, these are the important things to know about your future walking buddy.

While some travellers rather not use some specific material like leather. So, making sure that the sandals you’re buying fits to the material that you want and comfortable to wear.

Weight

For many, the weight of the walking sandals matter a lot. To some, they simple don’t like heavy sandals while other don’t have the luxury to pack heavy ones on top of their limited space on the luggage.

Aesthetic

As for me, I’ll recommend ECCO Men’s Yucatan as one of the best walking sandals for travel. The black multi-strap blends well to almost any colored pants and traveling shorts. The performance sandal has multiple adjustment points that can fit me very well. You won’t also feel it getting heavy. And the soft pads do ease tension and fatigue on your foot in long walk trips.

Traveling and seeing new places are undeniably fun. However, too much walking can exhaust your feet and possibly cause accidents. To decrease accidents because of foot fatigue, especially in traveling bliss areas, which you won’t ever want to happen in your holidays.

Nayo EXP Backpack in Dalat, Vietnam

To start this year, I’d like to begin with a backpack review from a company that is passionate to bring smart and safe travel backpacks in the travelling world. Before 2019 ended, I was contacted by Nayo Smart to give their backpacks a spin and deliver my review.

I’ve been backpacking since 2015, I’ve had my fair share of trying both budget backpacks and branded ones. I love reviewing backpacks because I’ve been living on it for years.

Despite that I’ve stayed in some places longer than 3 months, you will always see me with a backpack the moment I leave the country and head onto a new adventure.Before we start with the juicy parts, let’s know Nayo Smart first:

WHO IS NAYO SMART

Nayo Smart aims for a minimalist but smart products to bring in the travelling world. They create backpacks that are anti-theft, great for outdoor activities, while still producing a brand that fits any type of traveller.

WHAT ARE THEIR PRODUCTS

Nayo Smart has six (6) backpacks. Four of them are cabin-sized backpack, and two of them are laptop/business backpacks. Both of these types of backpacks suits me as a traveller.

I travel with a cabin-sized backpack and have a laptop bag since I carry my laptop everywhere I go – even just for a weekend trip away.

For this collaboration, Nayo Smart sent me four of their backpacks to try out and review; Nayo Defensor, Nayo Anti-Theft Shell, Nayo EXP Backpack, and Nayo Almighty.

Laptop / Daily Backpacks

Nayo Defensor

My first impression with this backpack is how minimalist it looks. Then I opened up the backpack and saw all the amazing features. Here are the specs of Nayo Defensor:

• Capacity: 20L
• Weight: 1.23 kg (2.7 lbs)
• Size: 45 L x 14 W x 30 H cm (17.6 x 5.5 x 11.8 in)
• Laptop: fits 15.6″

Nayo Smart’s Defensor

Here are the features that I like most:

OUTSIDE:

• minimalist look
• built-in zip code locks
• a USB port for charging
• zip on and off water bottle holder
• secret pockets at the back for passport, bank cards, wallets, and other valuables
• two small pockets on the lower shoulder strap (quick access for keys, bank card, cash)
• padded back support
• can be slip on top of a wheeled suitcase
• built-in but removable keychain or key holder
• the outside fabric looks very sleek and is water-resistant, you can push back the front of the backpack to make it slimmer or pop it up for more spaces inside without making it look too bulky

INSIDE:

• laptop pocket with secure strap
• tablet/ebook pocket with secure strap
• two tight pockets for camera, chargers, and other valuables
• pen holders
• zipped pocket
• another regular pocket
• you can place your power bank inside and connect it through a built-in USB cord
• Velcro tapes on the side to minimise the opening size of the backpack

This backpack has great pockets and features just enough of what one needs. I like how it doesn’t have features that are useless or worse, making the product harder to use or heavier to carry. This pack is straightforward.

Now, let’s talk about what I don’t enjoy that much from Nayo Defensor. There aren’t a lot of things I don’t like about this backpack, but I can only imagine that to some travellers, this issue might be a deal-breaker, so here they are:

• how the inside fabric is sewn – they look, I feel like Nayo Smart could have sewed them tighter, so it doesn’t give the “cheap” look
• useless buttons – there are two buttons on the back support that I don’t understand the purpose 
• laptop pocket safety strap is only suitable for 15″ – I wish the safety strap of the laptop pocket can be adjusted to accommodate smaller laptops, I use a 13″, and when I place my computer on the inside pocket, it’s too loose and unsecure
• No hip belt – like what I mentioned on my previous reviews, the hip belt is probably something you don’t care for a laptop bag, but personally, I always opt for one

Nayo Anti-Theft Shell

Between two laptop bags, I definitely like this one better. Nayo Smart Anti-Theft Shell has a sturdy, smart, and minimalist look. The “shell” design gives me an assurance that my valuables inside will be safe.

• Weight: 1.2 kg (2.7 lbs)
• Size: :46 L x 15 W x 30 H cm (18 x 4.9 x 11.8 in)
• Laptop: fits 15.6″

Here are the features I like most:

• built-in zip coded lock
• the shoulder strap is attached to the front of the bag, so when you open the backpack it doesn’t open all the way, or it stands on its own
• zip in and zip out for a bottle holder
• slip-on strap for a wheeled suitcase
• safe compartment for passport, bank cards, phone, and another valuable right on the back, which also well-padded that help as a back support
• 2 small pockets by the shoulder strap to place bank cards or keys
• padded back support
• USB-charge port

INSIDE:

• laptop pocket with safety straps
• iPad / tablet / ebook pocket with safety straps
• pen holders
• USB cord for charging
• secure pockets for valuables
• built-in keychain/holder
• extra pockets
• Velcro tapes to stick two sides of the backpack together to avoid opening it up all-day

Every time I use this backpack, I like how to fits my back, it feels secure, and the back support does a decent job. It has plenty of space for all my stuff when I bring my work to a coffee shop or packed for a flight with them compared to my past laptop bags. I’ve never had a built-in zip coded locks, so, I’m pretty excited to try this one out.

Here are some things I don’t like a lot about this backpack and features that I wish are available:

• again, a loose sewn fabric – it made the backpack look cheap and unattractive inside
• laptop pocket best fit for 15″ – I have 13″ laptop
• laptop safety straps can’t be adjusted – with this, it feels like this backpack only accommodates those who have 15″ laptops and leave the smaller laptops unsafe
• hip belt – I wish Nayo Smart have thought about adding a hip belt even a removable one
• some small pockets in the front of the backpack – where I can put pens, wired headphones/earphones which I can easily access without opening the entire backpack

Weekend / Carry-On Backpack

Nayo Smart’s EXP Backpack

Nayo Smart’s EXP Backpack is a great daily backpack and a weekend backpack. The most important feature of this pack is how you can quickly expand it to a bigger backpack, from 25L to 40L one.

You can easily do this through zipping off some parts of the backpack, and voila, you get extra spaces. When I’m moving from the Philippines to Vietnam, I put my Anti-Theft Shell backpack inside this backpack to save some space!

Here are the specs of EXP backpack:

• Compressed size – Volume: 25L
• Weight: 1.1 kg (2.4 lbs)
• Dimensions: 50 L x 15 W x 31 H cm (19.6 x 5.9 x 12.2 in)
• Laptop: fit 17.3”
• Full-expanded size – Volume: 40L
• Dimensions: 50 L x 25 W x 31 H cm
• Equal to a standard carry-on size suitcase

Here are the things I like about Nayo EXP Backpacks:

OUTSIDE:

• the fabric has a waterproof coating – made of polyester and polyurethane
• it has a spacious pocket on the front
• USB charging port
• side straps – I’ve always found a use for side straps; attaching tents, yoga mats, and other things
• padded back for back support
• safety compartment on the bottom of the back for easy access of passport, bank cards, and other valuables
• 2 small pockets for on the shoulder straps

INSIDE:

• main compartment zipper opens up nicely so you can pack easier
• two mesh pocket – you can pack here your underwear, socks, smart shirts, it works great like a packing cube (but can’t be unattached)
• the main compartment is meshed up and spacious – from here, you can access the expanded area of the backpack
• I like how the main compartment is all mesh – it’s easy to see where things are so you can unzip whatever you need from the backpack conveniently 
• front compartment has all the pockets for everything – from here, you can also access the USB charging cord
• the back compartment is for the laptop – a 17″ laptop can fit here nicely, it also has an extra pocket for chargers and other work accessories

I honestly think that Nayo EXP Backpack is a great one; it’s a double purpose backpack. Either you are a person who carries your backpack everywhere, or if you go on a weekend trip once in a while, it’s a great pack to consider having.

Now, here’s the features that I didn’t appreciate from Nayo EXP Backpack or features I wish it has:

• better laptop compartment – it’s great that it has a big compartment, but it doesn’t do any excellent service for smaller laptops, safety-wise
• it doesn’t have a hip belt – personally, I always want a hip belt to help my back carry the weight
• wish they sew the inside fabric tighter or better to make it look nicer
• water bottle holder – I personally don’t use the water holder for bigger backpacks but I think many travellers may find it useful

Nayo Almighty

​This one might be the best backpack Nayo Smart has. The features it has perfectly fit to today’s type of traveller; bringing lots of gadgets, space for plenty of clothes, lots of pockets for better organising when packing. You can find them in either normal size or a Larger one.

• Capacity: Volume: 32L  
• Weight: 1.5 kg (3.3 lbs)
• Dimensions: 51 L x 17 W x 35 H cm (20 x 6.7 x 13.8 in)
• Laptop: fits a 17.3”

Here are the things I like about this backpack:

OUTSIDE:

• high tenacity polyester with waterproof coating
• front pocket – for any stuff that you want to access easily like headphones, eye mask, pen, paper, wet wipes, tissue, etc
• second front pocket – with two small pockets and main pocket, pen holders
• third front pocket – I’ve used it for laundry clothes, handy cam, contact lense and oral hygiene accessories
• USB charging port
• on the right side, an insulated pocket – you can place anything that you’re afraid might cause a mess (liquid) without ruining the rest of your things
• left side pocket – zip on and off water bottle holder
• back pocket (right at the bottom part) – a great place for passport, bankcards, wallets, and other valuables
• sunnies holder
• built-in whistle on the chest strap
• 2 pockets on the shoulder strap – a great place for keys, bank card, cash
• a decent padded back support

INSIDE:

The inside main compartment has two parts; meshed with built-in Velcro pouches (where you can pack your clothes) and the laptop or electronic gear area.

• 2 Velcro tape pouches – one has zip mesh, and the other is an insulated pouch (great for toiletries, in case you have an accident from any bottle or liquid, it won’t affect the rest of your stuff, this also have a small hook so you can hang it on the wall or bathroom)
• pocket for underwear or small accessories
• two side pockets – good for flip flops or water shoes
• USB charging cord
• more space for clothes
• the zipped mesh that separates two compartments can help very well on packing
• laptop pocket with safety strap – 15.6″
• iPad /tablet / ebook pocket with safety strap
• two expandable pockets – for laptop charger, camera lenses or chargers, extra battery, extra cords

I like how many pockets while still leaving lots of spaces for clothes and other accessories, I love that the fabric is soft, hence, easy to squeeze more stuff inside. The bottom base is hard enough to support the weight of the backpack.

Here are the things I don’t like a lot about Nayo Almighty backpack:

• loose sewing of the fabric inside the pockets and main compartment
• no hip belt – I always prefer hip belts
• laptop safety strap can’t be adjusted- only suitable for 15.6″ laptops since it you can’t adjust it, smaller laptops might not be as secure there
• expandable zipper – I wish there is an expandable zipper link EXP backpack even just 5cm wider
• built-in zip coded lock – it’s designed to carry expensive things like laptops and camera, it would be smart if Nayo added their built-in zip coded lack

NAYO SMART CABIN-SIZED BACKPACK VS OTHER CABIN-SIZE BACKPACK THAT I’VE USED

So far, I personally used and travelled with North Face Surge (2015-2019), Cabin Zero 40L (2017), Standard Luggage Carry-On (2019-present) and now with Nayo Smart EXP Backpack and Nayo Almighty (2019-present).

Cabin Zero 40L vs Nayo EXP Backpack

I’ve already given up my Cabin Zero two years ago because it feels like their version at that time was a beta, it was missing a lot of features, pockets, and sustainable features for backpackers. Nayo EXP Backpack definitely wins this round easily (in terms of features and price).

Cabin Zero 40L vs Nayo Almighty

Again, Nayo Almighty wins this round for its features, prices, and over-all durability. Cabin Zero is just a backpack when you can pack everything inside without having today’s features that are must be needed.

Standard Luggage Carry-On 40L vs Nayo EXP Backpack

Here’s the thing, I’ve only started travelling with Standard Luggage’s Carry-on backpack this year. Still, I’ve already taken it to three countries. That backpack is excellent for a full-time or long-term trip, but it’s too big for a weekend holiday.

While Nayo EXP is excellent for a short vacation but too small for a long-term trip. I’d say they are not comparable as you can use them for different kind of trips.

Standard Luggage Carry-On 40L vs Nayo Almighty

Same goes for Standard Luggage Carry-on vs Nayo Almighty, they are backpacks for an entirely different type of trips. Since I’m living in Vietnam now and planning to stay for a while and will do weekend or short-trips local and internationally, I’m keeping my Nayo Almighty and use it for those type of holidays.

NAYO SMART LAPTOP BACKPACK VS THE OTHER THAT I’VE USED

In my first year of travelling, I was using a Haglofs hiking backpack as a laptop backpack, last year, I got a Standard Luggage laptop bag and been using it since (although I still have my Haglofs, because it has a hip belt!).

Now, I’m comparing Standard Luggage laptop backpack vs Nayo Smart’s laptop bags.

Standard Luggage Laptop Bag vs Nayo Defensor

To be honest, Nayo Smart’s Defensor is my least favourite between 4 backpacks I ha from them. It didn’t impress me as much due to lack of pockets and how you the fabric is not expandable. It feels like it’s too limited and I’ve had a hard time placing all my Standard Luggage laptop backpack’s accessories and necessities inside the Nayo Defensor.

In this part, I recommend Standard Luggage laptop bag instead of Defensor.

Standard Luggage Laptop Bag vs Nayo Anti-Theft Shell

The moment I used Nayo Smart’s Anti-Theft Shell backpack, I knew I’m going to let go of my Standard Luggage laptop bag. Although I wish Shell backpack has more pockets like Standard Luggage, I think I’d prefer to use the Shell bag instead because of how nicely it fits on my back.

UPDATE: In the beginning I thought I want to keep the Shell backpack but after taking it for a day, it doesn’t fit my backpack but I can see that many might find it a good backpack.

SHOULD YOU BUY ALL NAYO SMART BACKPACKS

I don’t think you need to buy all of them, but if you are weekend tripper, get their carry-on backpacks which are super high for this kind of trip. If you work online or carry your backpack daily, I highly recommend you try out their laptop bags. I honestly think Nayo Smart is onto something here, they target modern travellers offering all features that are useful today.

VERDICT FOR NAYO SMART BACKPACKS

Nayo Smart’s backpacks are honestly suitable and are being sold for high prices too. Although it’s not great for long-term trips, for a weekend holiday or a short trip, it’s honestly a great deal.

The design of Nayo Smart’s backpacks are on point, it’s sleek, smart look, and minimalist, something that is in-trend right now. During my moving between the Philippines and Vietnam caused my Nayo backpacks to be on the floor, collecting dust always. A 50-liter backpack’s durability relies on the material it is made. Generally speaking, a backpack made out of heavy-duty nylon or polyester are the most durable. Plus, these materials are water-resistant, which helps keep my things from getting wet.

As a traveler, I bring kinds of stuff that are in different categories, big and small, that will help me during my travels. I prefer 50L backpacks to have many pockets.

PERSONAL VERDICT

Now, I must explain the rationale behind my choice, right? And my simple answer is: I love its design. It has all the necessary features I think I’ll need, i.e., the laptop sleeve and durability, and that’s enough for me.

If you can afford and rather choose a backpack that is made by a well-known brand, I highly recommend Osprey’s Pack Rooks/Sirus 50L, “Rooks” for men and “Sirus” for women. Once you hit the road, you will notice how many travellers are using Osprey. This is a great sign that this backpack is trusted, just make sure to choose a unique design.

Cleaning your backpack

The usual mistake when washing a backpack is using a washing machine. The force of the washer may damage your bag. Some things are best done manually, and one of those things is cleaning a backpack. A bin, a brush, water, detergent, and your hands are all you need.

Focus on scrubbing the shoulder pads, the rear, as well as the bottom part, because these are the spots where dirt gets accumulated the most. You should also make sure that your bag is rinsed thoroughly because it’ll make the bag stinky if it isn’t washed properly.

If, for any reason, you still prefer using a washer, make sure that the backpack is empty before placing it inside. I’d also highly recommend setting it to delicate wash, with its temperature not higher than 30°C (86°F), and use a mild detergent. Do not wash it with other clothes, and do not let it spin for more than 30 minutes.

I don’t recommend using a dryer as the backpack may get damaged, but if the situation calls for a “winter wash”, I just hang my backpack in a well-ventilated and dry spot.

Storing

If you’re not going to use your backpack for an extended period of time, store it in a well-ventilated area, and wrap it in plastic to prevent dust from accumulating on the bag. I use a stick to poke through the plastic wrapping, creating holes. I do this to let my bag “breathe.”

VERDICT: What is the best travel jacket with hidden pockets

Personally, for a travel jacket for a man, I would choose the XY37 Men Travel Hoodie. It comes with great features, it is made of comfortable material. The weight is a little off but if it means it will be good enough for winter, then it’s a no-brainer. It is also fashionable enough in  a casual way. I am also taking into account how easy to wash and dry it.

While a travel jacket for a woman, the XY37 Women’s Jacket is a winner too. However, the fact that SCOTTeVEST Sterling Jacket placed a featured of detachable sleeve is giving me a strong feeling to take that one instead. I also like the available colours for it while the designed is something casual yet smart looking which I prefer.

HOW TO LOOK AFTER YOUR TRAVEL JACKETS WITH INSIDE POCKETS OR HIDDEN POCKETS

In everything we own, if we want them to last long. Same goes for our travel jackets. When you are not travelling or when it’s not in use it is very important that we clean, dry, and store our jackets properly. Not only for its quality to be kept but also to make sure it doesn’t have any funny smell and have it ready for the next trip or season.

Here are some ways on how to take care of your jacket:

Wash properly and rinsing

Before throwing the jack inside the washer, check all the pockets and empty them. Some people leave tissue inside which ruins the fabric because paper gets mashed and then it sticks everywhere. Remember to remove all the sharp objects, these can make holes in your jacket and break your washer.

Once it’s empty, place in the machine (mix with other clothes in the same colour but do not overload), and set the temperature to 30°C (86°F). Make sure to read the manual for your washer to guide you properly on the temperature. Another thing to consider is to read the washing manual for your jacket, check if there is a specific temperature or settings to use.

Use normal detergent and two tennis balls to keep its volumes, avoid tangling and help ventilate. You should rinse it twice.

Drying

When drying, use the two tennis ball again and set the machine on synthetic, these help to fluff up the feathers. Perhaps dry it 2-3 times to makes sure it is fully dry. If you do not have a dryer, you can hang the jacket on the clothesline or rack. Make sure to turn, pat, and shake it once in a while to avoid the feathers sticking together. You should never dry your jacket on a radiator.

Storing

When your jacket is completely dry, place it on a hanger, use the best size that covers the entire should length on both sides, and hang it inside your closet. Once in a while, air out the closet so the wood smell won’t stick on your jacket.

My first impression of their Carry-on Backpack is how smart they placed every pocket and how easy to access them. It’s also has a great design, you can see the quality of the fabric is on the top as well, and it’s features – hands down.The backpack itself is heavier than other backpacks I’ve used before (perhaps because it has a lot padded areas), however, I find the reason for it reasonable enough – it keeps my things that are made of glass and gadgets like Polaroid camera safe, it will surely be very useful for those who will place their laptops and travel gadgets inside.

• Laptop pocket: Holds most 15 in laptops and 15in Macbook Pro – even up to 17 in

Best features

• can hold up to 45L (about 15 kgs)
• well-placed pockets – it helped me so much when organising my clothes, footwear, and toiletries
• opens up as a suitcase – it’s easier to pack this way
• internal straps – it has inside straps that helps to hold everything together, it’s one of my favourite features
• laptop sleeve and water bottle – although I never placed my laptop in a carry-on laptop sleeve (since it goes on the over-head cabin bag), it’s good to have this feature too
• hide-away straps, sling strap – you can easily tuck in the shoulder straps and buckle in the sling strap
•  wheeled suitcase ready – if you travel with a wheelie, you can hide the straps and hook it up on top of your wheelie (it has its own back strap), I’m planning to travel with a wheelie soon, this feature is exciting for me 
• expandable – you can easily zip out and expand the backpack
• rain cover, lockable zips, whistle – whistle on the shoulder strap (that goes right by your chest), it’s super cool!
• it comes with a detachable hip belt – but I noticed it only after my trip to Bali, therefore, I can’t comment on its performance just yet

After travelling with Standard Luggage Carry-on Backpack, I’ve discovered some missing features as well, here they are:

Cons

• the zip locks are too small – the lock I have couldn’t fit on the zip locks, it’s the normal size, I think it only fits on the small ones or thin locks. I wish they made it a little bigger that fits the standard size
• it looks too hard to carry for short traveller like me (I’m 153 cm/5 ft)  – people keep asking me if my backpack is too heavy. I don’t know if it’s the design or perhaps it’s my height (lol!)
• better back support – after walking for at least 15 minutes, my back starts to hurt (it could be because of my sensitive back that causes pain even I carry lightweight backpacks), but I can also say that it’s because there is just some back support from the backpack. Honestly, it’s decent enough, my back is just really sensitive.

This is my favourite product of Standard Luggage. As a person who travels with her laptop everywhere, this backpack is just straight rock on. It has all the features I need and not to mention how sleek the design is.

• Laptop sleeve: Holds 15.1 in laptops and 15 in Macbook Pro

Best features

• the design – it looks cool but at the same time it’s smartly designed for a digital nomad like me, it looks so minimalist
• amazing laptop and tablet pocket – it’s well padded and has a small pocket for a passport, wallet, paper documents which you can secure with a Velcro strap
• water bottle holder – one of its great features, it fits the regular size bottle (up to 700ml) and can expand a little more, you can also just zip it up if not in use
• easy access front, top, and back pockets – it has all these small pockets on the back, top, and the front. I used these to place my phone, coin purse, and earphone, which all I can access even while walking
• it doesn’t look bulky – inside, I packed my laptop, laptop charger, mouse, journal notebook, a pouch includes my dental kit, pens, passport, bank cards, extra phone, camcorder and charger for it, plus another pouch with random stuff in it, a big lightweight scarf (I use a blanket in the plane), and an extra shirt and socks – all these, it fits well and didn’t look bulky at all unlike my Haglöfs Tight Medium
• USB charger port – I easily hooked up my power bank and charge my phone on the go and even while walking

I’ve taken out my Daily Laptop Backpack around the Philippines and Bali, I honestly don’t have a lot of significant negative comments at the moment, but here are some:

Cons

• zip locks size – like the Carry-On Backpack, my lock didn’t fit on the zip locks
• no hip-belt – but this doesn’t bother me at all

Compared to Haglöfs Tight Medium

I’ve been using my Haglöfs Tight Medium for two years until a month ago. I liked that one a lot, I could lock the zips, it has good back support, it has straps on the shoulder pads where I can hang my water bottle, it has bungee straps in the front for flipflops, shoes or scarfs. One thing I didn’t like about it is how bulky it gets.

And that’s where Standard Luggage Laptop/Daily Backpack stands out. It shows no bulky part whatsoever, it has water bottle holder on the side, a strap on the shoulder pad to attach hair tie or a bottle.

Although, I would say that I’m pretty sure I’ll still use my Haglöfs Tight Medium once in a while. It’s still in such amazing shape and barely has any wear and tear.

Packing Cubes/Travel Dresser

I’ve been using packing cubes since 2015 which has been amazing. But after all these years of the pack and unpack twice a week and 20+ countries later, it’s now worn out and needs a replacement.

Since I got my first packing cubes, this product has evolved so much. Standard Luggage’s packing cube is also a travel dresser. You can hang it on a wall or dorm bunk beds, attach them together via Velcro and viola, you can easily find a pair of socks, clean shirt, underwear, and trousers without turning your bed up side down.

STANDARD LUGGAGE VS OTHER CABIN-SIZED BAGS THAT I’VE USED

So far, I’ve tried 3 different carry-on backpacks; North Face Surge, CabinZero 40L, and Standard Luggage Carry-On. I first had my North Face Surge, after a year with it, I’ve got a Cabin Zero, then went back to my North Face Surge, and now I have Standard Luggage Carry-On.

After using CabinZero 40L for only a month, I had to switch back to my NorthFace Surge. The CabinZero 40L didn’t have any back support nor a hip belt. It has limited pockets and no water bottle holder. Every time I had to get something from the inside, I had to open the entire bag – it wasn’t the bag for me.

Comparing Standard Luggage Carry-On to CabinZero 40L, I’ll definitely choose Standard Luggage – it has more features, better back support, and way better organising system. I can access all of important things without opening the whole bag.

NorthFace Surge vs Standard Luggage

I’ve been using my NorthFace Surge for 4 years now, but it does need to be replaced. The shoulder straps are worn out, the inside pockets ripped (I sew them back together a few times), the hip belt barely works anymore. It’s still fine for light trips but won’t be reliable for full-time backpacking.

Now, if I compare NorthFace Surge (the time I bought it) to Standard Luggage’s Carry-On backpack, I’d go with Standard Luggage. The only advantage of NorthFace Surge is it looks very compact, it’s not square like Standard Luggage. Standard Luggage has so many far advanced features that I find very useful during my travels so far – it beats NorthFace Surge easily.

SHOULD YOU BUY ALL STANDARD LUGGAGE PRODUCTS

If you work online, you definitely want their Laptop/Day Backpack. But if not, their Carry-On backpack and packing cubes are must buys! If you don’t have a sensitive back like me, the Carry-On backpack is a great deal and will help you pack and organise very efficiently.

I didn’t find a lot of pleasure on the Day Pack as I always use my string backpack which I sewed flag patches on, I still use it for sentimental reasons (but soon, it needs to retire – so many holes and the colour is very faded).

If you are travelling in Southeast Asia, most economy airlines like Air Asia, Cebu Pacific, Scoot, Jetstar, will allow you to bring two backpacks in the plane without a charge. One is the cabin bag (must fit in the overhead cabin – refer to the airline’s sizing policy), and one personal bag/laptop bag that can fit under the seat in front of you.

In Europe and South America, bringing a two backpack in an economy aeroplane is impossible. Most of the time, you have to pay extra for this option.

I honestly love their products – the crazy organiser me is amazed how well-designed these are. I probably enjoy it a lot and appreciate it more because of my lifestyle. My second option would be Youphoria Microfibre Towel, if I’m spending money anyway, I’d choose one that can hold water most. I like wrapping my hair around a towel which means one that can hold water most will be best for my needs.

These towels are pretty easy to pack. Its main job is to dry fast and not take a lot of space in your luggage. It should not add weight to your bag, it should also be packed strategically to be able to access anytime without unpacking your entire backpack. TRAVEL ESSENTIALS FOR LONG-HAUL FLIGHTS & CONNECTIONS

Here are very useful few travel accessories for long flights. To be honest, they are very easy to pack and lightweight that even on my short flights, I bring them just in case.

These essentials are always on my personal bag which goes under the seat. It also mean I can access them without opening the overhead cabinet. You can also find out what’s inside my long-term backpack.

These are what I recommend on what to take on a long haul flights:

1. FOLDABLE WATER BOTTLE

They are lightweight, easy to pack and can definitely brought through the security as long as you empty it. You can fill this up in water fountains which are available in some airports to avoid buying expensive and unethical water bottles. 

This alternative bottle doesn’t collapse as nicely, but looks more stylish.

2. WATER BOTTLE WITH FILTER

If you know that the airports you will go through doesn’t have any water stations, you should pack a water bottle with filter instead to avoid spending money and dehydrating yourself during your long flights and long layover.

3. NECK PILLOW & EYE MASK

You can either get a inflatable neck pillow to save some space in your luggage plus it’s very lightweight or  regular soft ones. It can also be used during your connections or bus rides. They come in different sizes, colours, and prices.

Also, don’t forget the eye mask. Invest on a good one, they are very useful not only during the flight but on the connections too. Block those bright lights and get your beauty sleep wherever airport and flight you are in.

4. SCARVES

I have two scarves, one for my head or neck when I get chilly and another that is big enough to be a skirt, towel or blanket. Both of the weigh almost nothing. Make sure to pack them, the big scarf will be great during your connection flight.

5. HEADSET/EARPHONE

Always pack a good one and can do the job to block the noise. Some airlines do provide headphones but let’s be honest, they are often awful.

Now, the best idea is to have all these essentials in one place or an arm’s reach. Some airplanes do have a hook where you can hang your jacket. Take advantage of this and get a jacket with pockets. 7. ELECTRIC TOOTHBRUSH

Make sure that you have your toothbrush during connection and long-flight especially if you cannot access your main bag. I honestly cannot travel without listening to any music. I use Spotify but I travel a lot and it kind of mess up once in a while and I feel like I waste my money. LONG HAUL FLIGHT OUTFIT​

Apart from packing the right the long haul flight essentials, make sure you wear something comfortable, with fewer zippers or metals (to avoid unwanted security chaos). Also remember to bring extra underwear, t-shirt, and shorts/stockings especially if you have no access to your clothes during the connection for your flight.

Because you’ll never when you might end up sitting between two drunk passengers. Wear clothes that are warm enough in the aeroplane; wear snickers instead of pointed open sandals, make sure you have a comfortable walking shoes, wear socks or bring a pair, and a light jacket in case you get cold.

Don’t forget to bring a jacket with you, a jacket with lots of pockets or hidden pockets will be great to hold all your long flight essentials.

Your best friend during long flights are those travel accessories, an eye mask to block the light and hopefully sleep through the entire flight, noise cancelling headphones or earplugs to avoid loud crying babies and chatty seatmates, a blanket in case your airline is not that generous to provide one.

Some airline provides a hook/pin next to your foldable table where you can hang your jacket. It would be smart to hang it there, place your travel essentials inside the jacket so you can reach them easier. Like hand cream and face cream; aeroplanes have really dry cold air.

Don’t forget the noise spray, if you are like me who get clogged nose easily, It is an absolute travel essentials for long haul flights. It is very useful and one of the best thing to pack for a long haul travel essentials.

During your connection

Check out if there are sleeping pods in the airport. Some massive airports like Changi in Singapore have sleeping pods. Some are for free while other airports like in Heathrow where you can find long benches/sun pads . While some airports have padded long metal chairs aligned where you can lie down and have a shut eye for a few hours.

Your lightweight big scarf can work as your blanket, neck pillow as your usual pillow, an eye mask to block the light, and ear plugs of headphones to block the noise. If you only have an hour or two connection, I recommend not to sleep because you might miss your next flight.

Find the spot where you can charge your devices too while watching a film or simply browsing on your phone. The last thing you want to happen is to run out of power when you land in a foreign country.

Avoid spending money on the airport

There are times that you can’t avoid spending money in the aeroplane or airports, especially if you can’t access a clean drinking water. We all know how expensive a small bottle in these places. The best is to try to find first if there are any drinking fountains, if you can fine any, next is to look for a vending machine. 100% of the time, the price in a vending machine is better than the shops or stalls.

Some vending machine sells snacks too like crackers, sandwiches, crisps, and chocolates.

I’m only 26 but I have been carrying my backpack for almost three years now. Packing up my backpack, strapping it behind me, and walking around with it almost once a week. To be fair, it’s only about 10 kgs, it’s not a lot but if you do it as often as I do, your body will eventually give you a kick here and there.

Exactly what it’s called it is – a backpack with wheels. You can choose from strapping it on your shoulders or wheel it around to give you back a break. I’m sure your body will thank you for that.

SHOULD YOU GO FOR BACKPACK, SUITCASE, RUCKSACK OR BOTH

I fully understand that the backpack is one of the best inventions ever, however, time will come that it won’t be fun anymore. If you are very fit, can walk around 3kms with at least 10kgs behind you, go for it. You also save a lot of money if you manage to fit all your travel gears in a cabin-sized backpack – bye bye expensive check-in fees!

While a rolling suitcase brings so much convenience as well. My first three trips out of the country, I was towing a suitcase with me. Having such one also let me bring more, pack easier, and walk around better. It was all fun until I broke it while being lost in the busy city of Italy.

I tossed it and never looked back. However, with back pain that is coming around too often, I envy those who have wheeled suitcases. But I’m not ready yet to dump my backpack, it’s just so much easier.

It’s very convenient to have a backpack that I can attach and detach. It’s also more lightweight than the other cabin-sized rolling backpack on this review list.

It’s a book that you can dip into and out of as the mood strikes and it will always inspire you to hit the road.

It involves mystery, romance and travel across England, Paris and Corsica (3 of my most favourite travel destinations). Also, when travelling, I like a book that has relatively short chapters and one that is easy to follow even if not reading throughout my entire vacation. After all, I find myself sightseeing during the day and only reading before bed.

For all of these reasons, I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend The Book of Lost & Found. So hop on down to your local bookshop or library right now!

3. AN EMBARRASSMENT OF MANGOES

It is the story of a Toronto couple, Ann and Steve, who decide to leave it all behind and sail around the Caribbean on their sailboat.  Ann was never a sailor and talks about her hesitation to take such a big leap.  She also talks about their trials and tribulations of learning to be full-time sailors.   But you can see them grow into experts over the 2 years.  Their love of the Caribbean comes through on each page as they visit 16 different island nations, including the Bahamas, Dominican Republic, Grenada, Trinidad and Tobago.

She lavishly describes the sights, scents and most importantly the food.  Not only does she describe the food, she includes recipes from locals in islands as well as some of her own islands influenced recipes.  Mango Bread anyone?  She also includes a dynamite recipe for a true Caribbean style rum punch.  For anyone who has dreamed of sailing off into the sunset, this is the real-life experience of someone who has actually done it.

I focus so much on reading guidebooks about the places I plan to visit that I am ready for a change when I am actually traveling and I choose to read fiction, usually light entertainment in my favorite genre, mystery. I want to be entertained while I travel or before I fall asleep but also want a book to get me ready to experience the new locale. One example of a perfect mystery when visiting Venice, Italy is The Bellini Card by Jason Goodwin.

It is 1840, and the main character travels from Constantinople to Venice to look for a lost painting, but a killer is at large and threatens the search for the painting. The descriptions of Venice helped me appreciate the city, even more, when I visited. The novel taught me about the history of Venice under Austro-Hungarian rule and got me excited about a trip to Istanbul.

5. THE SAMSARA PROJECT

The Samsara Project is a book I couldn’t put down the moment I started it. David Burgess did a great job in bringing his readers to another world of mystery and crime. The settings were in Wimbledon, London, John Reynolds is a well-known crime journalist somehow hated by the police for how he can get his way around a complicated news and cases. John found himself fascinated and confused with a murder case full of evidence but for any reason couldn’t bring him to any suspect. Along the way, he was able to put together his own team to solve a murder case that is clearly linked to an unexpected unsolved case.

I love how this book made me feel like a detective whilst losing myself in the story, London is a place I have never been myself but somehow makes me feel connected in every fiction and non-fiction story that I come across to.

6. SHANTARAM

My favourite travel book has got to be Shantaram by Gregory David Roberts. I read it when I was a teenager and I have been wanting to visit India ever since. This April I finally travelled to India and it was absolutely incredible. The book inspired me with its descriptions of daily life there, how people lived in slums, the darker side to places like Mumbai while capturing the vibrant and colourful lives of Indian people. I would definitely recommend reading this book, and I defy you not to want to travel to India after reading it!

7. THE ROSIE PROJECT

Why is it one of the best books to read when travelling?

The Rosie Project was one my bookclubs favourite books and I’d recommend it for any holiday. It’s a light-hearted and an easy read. Imagine a character like Sheldon from Big Bang that is searching for romance.

The Rosie Project is an awkward romance story set in Australia featuring Don Tillman and Rosie Jarman as the main character. Don has never been on more than one date and decided that he needs to find a partner, there starts the wife project. The book takes you on a wonderful journey about Don, his Asperger’s and learning about human relationships. Don puts the Wife Project on the back burner help Rosie to find her father. As a DNA expert, he might be able to help.

You hope for a love story from the get-go and it’s sweet watching the romance bloom between Don and Rosie who are very different yet oddly similar to each other.

8. THE BEACH

When I first read ‘The Beach’ by Alex Garland, I was about 14 years old and it drew me in like no other book had at that point. One quote, in particular, I will always remember really affected me” Escape through travel works. Almost from the moment I boarded my flight, life in England became meaningless. Seat-belt signs lit up, problems switched off. Broken armrests took precedence over broken hearts.

By the time the plane was airborne I’d forgotten England even existed.” The narrator, Richard, is an English backpacker and he explains that the reason he set off into the world of travel was that his girlfriend dumped him and he didn’t want to deal. While I don’t condone using travel as a way to avoid dealing with emotions, it’s tempting, isn’t it? Through Richards sarcastic and slightly cynical eyes, you join him in his search for paradise. The perfect travellers’ haven. With some major wanderlust envy, a good old fashion romance and a major literary adrenaline rush, The Beach should be on everyone priority list.

9. MY FAMILY AND OTHER ANIMALS

A bookworm as I am, I don’t think I could ever choose one book in any given category, but if you ask me about my favourite travelling book, I have one for you. It is Gerald Durrell’s “My Family and Other Animals” and there is one special condition: you have to read this book while you are in Greece.

The book is about the island of Corfu in Greece and is actually set in the first half of the 20th century, but if you have been to the Greek islands, you already know that the time there is absolutely irrelevant. The sound of singing cicadas, the colour of the water, the olive trees and the hospitality and friendliness of the locals are timeless. And those are exactly the things Durrell writes about – these and his family, who accompanies him on this journey, being (like most of the families) loud, warm, annoying and loving.

10. OFF THE RAILS

Off The Rails: Moscow to Beijing by Bike is the kind of book that inspires you to travel more adventurously. In it, Tim Cope & Chris Hatherly recount their tale of cycling 10,000 km in recumbent bicycles – a journey that starts in Moscow and takes them through Russia, Siberia, Mongolia, and Beijing.

The journey brings Cope and Hatherly to some of the remotest parts of the world; places that, even today, very few travelers manage to visit. It’s a positive reminder that, even though there’s a Lonely Planet for almost everywhere, there are still parts of this planet that you can be one of the first outsiders to visit.

Mosquitos, a lack of Russian, Mongolian, and Mandarin, along with bears and Russian mobsters make this an entertaining read that combines an entertaining travelogue with nuggets of humour and travel philosophy. It’s not one of the most well-known travel books out there, but I think it’s definitely deserving of a place in your carry on.

11. SEVEN YEARS IN TIBET

Why is it one of the best books to read when travelling?

If you happen to be in love with the Himalayas, then Herrer’s autobiography Severn Years in Tibet should be on your must-read list. And if you haven’t been fortunate enough to see the Himalayas with your own eyes, this book will surely make you want to.

What I loved about this famous novel is that it’s a combination of a travelogue, a history book and also an adventure one. It depicts the escape of Herrer from India after being imprisoned by the British in the Second World War. He manages to get all the way to Lhasa, Tibet, where he also settles. From then on, I loved how the author stole me in the magical world of Tibet before the Chinese invasion.

Travel is not all about seeing new places and sites. It’s about getting to know the world, the people around us and their culture and traditions. In Seven Years in Tibet, you get to experience an authentic Tibet, one where workers would immediately stop their activity should they find a bug on site. You learn about the Tibetan way of life and how the people in the Himalayas praise the mountains and respect them. And also, you can take a peek in His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s early life through his exciting friendship with Herrer.

It was hard to put this book down, also because I read it while trekking in Nepal. And after seeing the movie, I can say that the book is much better as a significant number of details are lost in the film.

12. WILD

Why is it one of the best books to read when travelling?

Now whether your a movie kinda person or a flip those pages this is a great book to take on the road. But before you decide to watch this book on one of those teeny tiny airplane screens do yourself a favour and READ the book. Why? Well the book delves into a depth of raw emotion that just isn’t possible to include in a film. Wild is one of my favourite books to read when I’m off travelling as it once again reminds me that adventures are not easy. That our expectations will be smashed out of this world by reality. Travel and long term adventures aren’t full of unicorns, glitter and Insta perfect photos. Cheryl takes the reader through her exceptionally personal journey from a successful marriage, to drugs sex and bad fitting boots.

Let’s be honest we’ve all been there.

Pride and Prejudice is one of those books for me that I can read over and over again. That being said, it really gets you in the historic mood when in England.  It is a famous love story that transports you to the early 1800’s England life and its different classes in society.  Austen depicts what everyday life was really like; the good, the bad, the struggles.  As always, Austen adds some humor to her writing too.  Be sure to visit Bath where Jane Austen lived and wrote.

My husband purchased me the 1^st edition colored set of Jane Austen novels for my birthday and I cannot wait to take this on our next holiday in England.

It’s Iceland and it’s 1829.  Agnes Magnúsdóttir is to be beheaded for murder. This novel is based on the true story of the last public execution in Iceland. As the novel unfolds, we learn there is another side to Agnes’ heartbreaking story.

I love that this novel was written by an Australian author who visited Iceland to research the story and historical details with such tenacity I felt transported to not only another country but another time. It’s not a ‘whodunnit’ murder mystery, but it’s still a page-turner. It’s a beautifully crafted and written work of contemporary literary fiction.

I also love it has inspired me to travel to Iceland to see the landscape and meet the people, described so vividly in the novel.

It’s a haunting novel and Agnes’ story has stayed with me since reading. When you combine beautiful prose with an engaging plot and unforgettable characters, what more can you ask for in book?

15. THE YEAR OF LIVING DANISHLY: Uncovering The Secrets Of The World’s Happiest Country

A Year of Living Danishly is about an English couple who moves to the countryside in Denmark to a small city where the Lego headquarters are located. It’s a tale from the authors perspective as she investigates just why Danes are so happy and how they manage to be happy in some of the most depressing weather when days are shadowed more by darkness than by sunshine. It’s a funny account of how learning to be Danish can make you happier and how the little things really do make you smile.

I love this book because it gives you an inside look into the heart and soul of another country, to understand how it runs from its people’s outlook on life, to having a child, health care, parties, social life, taxes and religion. It delves into Denmark’s fascinating culture that is similar yet so different from other western countries. I think this book is one everyone should read not just for travel to Denmark but because it’s a story about happiness and gives outside people a new way to see things and shines on light aspects that more countries should adapt for happier people.

16. THE MUSEUM OF INNOCENCE

Why is it one of the best books to read when travelling?

The reason why I bought this book was that I used to stay in Turkey  several years ago, and I thought that it would be great to read something with a familiar place as a setting. And that’s exactly why I  chose a book written by Orhan Pamuk, one of the most popular authors  in Turkey. The story is about the love between Kemal and his distant relative Fusun. While Kemal came from a prominent family, Fusun was just a shopgirl who came from a middle-class family. Their affair started  when Kemal was still engaged to Sibel, a woman who came from the same  society as his.

In the book, you will witness all the challenges Kemal had to face which will result in his building the Museum of Innocence. A museum created of  his collection through his love and the gap between the  classes of society in Istanbul. After the release of his novel, Orhan Pamuk has opened the real museum  based on the story in Istanbul, where visitors can see the pieces of  collection told in the book. The museum can be found around the neighborhood of Cukurcuma, Beyoglu  in Istanbul. The spot is quite hidden from the touristic place in the  city, but it’s worth the journey if you love the book. The cherry on top is that if you have the original copy of the book, you can also  use it as the entry ticket to the museum. Avoid Monday, since the museum is closed on that day.

Personally, I own 3 stainless steel – one that is straight straw and two that are bent. I bring this everywhere, even in the club! Just remember to bring this out and mention not to give you a straw.

Say goodbye to plastic utensils – here comes the Eco-friendly spoon, fork,knife, and chopsticks. They are made of wood/bamboo. In case you lose them accidentally, you don’t need to worry as they are biodegradable. The knife might not be able to slice thick steak but it still can do the job.

18. Portable Laundry System

A lot of us probably don’t enjoy doing laundry that much but we have to do it eventually. But with the use of this little portable laundry system, it can be fun in a way. If you are hiking or camping for days or the laundry service is quite expensive (like in Denmark, Myanmar, and Israel). you might need this product. This comes in a bag type, all you need is place the dirty clothes inside, add water, add soap, seal the bag and start scrubbing. It is pretty often when the shoe frame or the actual shoes are still in great shape, however, the insoles need a replacement. If you buy shoes where its insoles can be removed, you can save a lot of money and time, because all you need to do is buy a new one and replace the one ones.

What is the outsole made of?

The outsole is the one that is at the bottom of your shoes, the one that contacts the concrete. The outsole of the shoes also plays a big part. Most people prefer a thick rubber type to give them the ease of moving your feet and landing on hard rocks or uneven concrete.

The outsole play as the guard of your feet from nails, glasses, and other sharp objects that can cut your skin. You definitely should get an outsole that can tolerate any objects on the ground.

WHAT IS THE BEST WALKING SHOES – THE VERDICT

Although I know that everyone has different taste in which walking shoes is the best because we all have different needs and things we are looking for a pair of shoes, I would like to share what I think is the best one on this list.

For women, if it’s solely for walking, I would go for Skechers Performance Go Wak 4 Pursuit. It looks really cool, no lace, and while it still has arch support. If I’ll go for a shoe that I can use both for walking and mild running, I’d go for Saucony Women’s ProGrid ST2, but this is because my feet are fine even I use a mid-range running shoes. If you run a lot or have issues with your feet, you should definitely look for high-quality running shoes.

For men, I’d go for New Balance MW411v2, it has great features that support the feet for long walks, while I’d choose Skechers’ Afterburn Memory-Foam Lace-up Sneakers. Again, I’d only go for it if I do mild running. 

HOW TO TAKE CARE OF YOUR WALKING SHOES

To make sure that your walking shoes will not only last long but will also give you the comfort every time you use. There are a few things you need to do and remember before you go on a long walk on the concrete and of course during and after the walk. Here are a few points for you to keep in mind on how to take care of your walking shoes.

Break in your walking shoes properly

Before embarking on a long trip and walking, it is always best to order or buy your walking shoes between one month to two weeks before your trip. Once you receive your shoes, wear them around the house and get used to them. You should not be alarmed if you feel stiffness, however, if it causes pain on your heel and side toe, you probably should get a different one or a better sizing for your feet. Remember that many shoes can be too little or too big depending on its shape.

The purpose of doing this is to make a feel of your walking shoes and get your feet comfortable. Remember that the heavier than shoes or the thicker its fabric or material, the longer the breaking in will take.

Once you are comfortable using it in the house without no pain, it’s time to bring it outside for a 10-minute to 30-minute walk and observe.

After the walk

After your walk, long or short, remember to not stuff your socks inside. Instead, place it on the top or have a rack for socks. Placing socks inside the shoes or on the top will stop it from airing out, this is the shortcut in making your pair stick fast.

Taking it or in the balcony, no direct sun or rain, will also help in airing the shoes out, however, don’t do it longer than a few hours. After this, store them inside a ventilated room.

Storing your walking shoes

When storing your walking shoes, as much as possible, don’t put anything on top of it to avoid deforming. Again, keep your shoes in a dry and ventilated room.

How to clean your walking shoes

Depending on the material, some shoes are safe to put in the washer. If this is the case, take out the laces and insole and set the water temperate to cold and use mild soap or powder soap, run it for not more than 20 minutes and use mild power.

However, it is best to hand wash your shoes since a washing machine can be too rough. Take out the laces and mix soap powder with cold water, pick up an old toothbrush and start scrubbing the top including the toe or front area, tongue, and inside of the shoes. Then proceed in cleaning the outsold and underneath the shoes.

Rinse the shoes 2-3 times in cold water until you are sure that no more soap is left. Dry your shoes outside but not in direct sun. Make sure that it’s warm enough to dry it or else, letting your shoes wet for more than 24 hours can cause an odour that will be hard to get rid of.
