  • Citizens of Malawi, Lesotho, Zimbabwe, Tanzania, Uganda, Swaziland, and Botswana. 
  • Nationals of Kenya, Malaysia, Singapore, Egypt, Trinidad, and Tobago
  • Foreign nationals who are merely passing through Ghana (direct airside transit)
  • Those who possess a diplomatic passport from Brazil, Iran, Cuba, Germany, South Africa, and the Special Administrative Region of Hong Kong may stay for up to 3 months in Ghana without a visa.
  • Foreigners with an official passport for African Union, Government Communities in Africa, or specialized agencies of the United Nations (e.g., World Bank, African Development Bank, WHO, IMF, WFP).

East Asia

Visa-Free Countries for Ghanians

All East Asia countries require Ghana passport holders to obtain visas, evisa, or visa on arrival upon entry on their international points. 

Visa Granted on Arrival/E-visa for Ghanians

  • Macao – Ghana nationals are required to hold a valid passport and entry permit or a visa to grant entry to Macau. You can only stay for 30 days with this entry permit.
  • Mongolia – Visa is not required for people who hold a dual nationality card issued by Ghana. Holders of an emergency visa granted by Ghana Immigration can possess a visa on arrival. 

If you’re a Ghana citizen traveling for tourism, you can stay up to 30 days, and visa expires in 90 days. If you want to stay longer, apply for an extension not less than 3 days before the duration of your visa is reached.

  • China – You’ll need an original invitation letter from the company or travel bureau in China. Proof of economic guarantee is also required (e.g.., personal bank account statements or payslips from current or past employers).

  • Myanmar – 28 days. All Ghana nationals who applied through the electronic visa system must arrive via Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw, or Mandalay airports or land crossing from Tachileik, Myawaddy, Kawthaung, or India to Thailand. Take note that eVisa is applicable for tourists only.

  • Uzbekistan – All Ghana citizens can get an e-visa before visiting Uzbekistan as a tourist for 30 days.
  • Kyrgyzstan – Like any other nationalities, the Ghanaians are eligible to obtain Kyrgyzstan e-visa. Though before applying, you should know that e-visa holders can be allowed to cross the border only through these points: Manas and Osh airports, and land crossing with Dostuk (Uzbekistan), Ak-Jol, Ak-Tilek(Kazakhstan), Irkeshtam and Torugart(China), and Bor-Dobo, Kulundu, and Kyzyl-Bel (Tajikistan).

  • Palestine – Ghana nationals traveling in Palestine should not worry about Visa, but an entry on the Gaza Strip by sea is not allowed.

  • Bahrain – All Ghanaians now have the opportunity to apply for a Bahrain e-visa. The usual stay is short, with a period of 14 days and with a visa expiry of 30 days after validation.
  • Georgia – You can enter Georgia with an e-visa for a maximum of 90 day. Please note that you must present your travel documents along with your passport when crossing the borders of Georgia.
  • Jordan – Ghana citizens who’re traveling to Jordan as a tourist can get visas on arrival.
  • Qatar – The up to date policy of Hamad International Airport in Qatar allows every Ghanaians who wants to travel the country to obtain their tourist visa online for the maximum stay of 30 days.

  • Armenia – You can apply through the Embassy of Armenia in person or travel agents giving him/her a letter of authorization. Take note that you have to pay visa fees before dropping by the embassy.

  • Cyprus – If you have Schengen visa type “C,” and you’ve used it to enter at least one Schengen region, you can enter and stay in Cyprus until the validity of your Schengen visa.
