ABOUT A MARY ROAD

What is this site about?

A Mary Road is a blog that focuses on providing travel tips based on real-life travel experiences. From deciding where to go, planning your trip, writing an itinerary, preparing your visa, and even packing. We are here to help you make your holiday a smooth and memorable ride.

After finishing my Bachelor's degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management, I decided to move to Denmark to be an au pair for two years to a lovely Danish family. After being exposed to a very different culture, ways of living, I made a concious decision that I'm not going to turn my life into how the society expected me to be.

The world is massive, and I've only seen a tiny part of it. Imagine what's more out there, I told myself. After my au pair program, I packed my bags, booked a flight to Vietnam, and started a short backpacking trip that turned into a full-time lifestyle.

I've been to four continents, almost 30 countries from Asia, Middle East, Central Asia, Europe, Africa, and Latin America and I don't see myself stopping anytime soon.

A Mary Road was born

While planning my trip back in Denmark back in 2015, I realised how many websites are talking about travel preparations. Still, very few are that actually useful and discussing what to expect once you're on the road, and these sites are even hard to find.

I've met so many travellers like me who made so many mistakes which resulted in spending my travel budget to unnecessary things or situations. I could have used that money towards another amazing tour or a delicious meal or be able to extend my trip - instead, my trip turned into a big hassle and less relaxing.

So here at A Mary Road, we have been travelling for years and thought we have so many travel tips to help everyone who only want to have a good time, enjoy a holiday without much hassle. Our goal is to help you plan a trip without losing sleep, spending unnecessary expenses, and make this experience memorable.

Today

Today, A Mary Road reaches almost 70,000 visitors every month and inspired 175,000 travellers across social media platforms.

We are one of the travel experts in the region of Southeast Asia, visa guides, and Eco-friendly travel gears. We have started sharing useful information for Latin America and Europe.

A Mary Road is a reliable online travel magazine with 3 staffs making sure to provide the freshest and most updated travel itineraries, tips, and advice.

YEARS ON THE ROAD

I've been travelling since 2013, I've been almost every type of travellers there are (if you think of things like that exist). I've travelled on a crazy low budget, been a hiker, hitchhiker, flashpacker, lived as an expats in six (6) different cities across four (4) countries and three (3) different continents.

Carrying a backpack has been what most my travel life been but I also have hauled it across fancy luxury hotels and business class seats. I have lived with a Vietnamese family for months who treated me like a family despite the language barrier.

I have a journal notebook which I often only have a chance to write on when I'm in airports. I list all the places I've been and all the airports my journal has been. If I go now and write my life on the road since 2013, this page will never end.

So, to make things easier for both of us, I will write in this section the places I've been, how long I've stayed, how many times I've visited, and snippet of the best and worst experiences I've had in each places.

Please bear in mind that this is not a complete list as I've forgotten some places and stupidly missed on writing them down. While some places are simply too personal for me to share here.
